Scrap Attack

Not sure what it is, but I am in the middle of a scrap attack.

Continued with my Spiderweb quilt blocks...yes, this is growing nicely

I like to lay out the blocks from time to time to have a look at the colour distribution. When I sew the blocks I grab the strips as they come, however I am  drawn to certain colours more than others. As you can see, I like a fair bit of all things red. Obviously worked in some pink which is not my favourite colour and made a mental note to keep that to a minimum. The other thing I noticed is that I seem to have a fair amount of tone-on-tone and solids going on which makes sense as most of my recent projects were the tone-on-tone variety...I reckon, I need to include some more patterned colour pieces to give it more variety. Overall, happy with my progress and hoping that I will keep it up this time.

When looking at my scraps the other day, I noticed a "chicken" print. I have made two quilts out of that print, fussy-cutting out individual chicken and I still had all these oddly shaped scraps left over. As I bought an Accuquilt Go cutter recently, I went to work and cut all those Chicken print pieces into squares, then added some other coordinating squares out of the scrap box and this is what I have come up with
Design wise a bit simple, but...this would use up a whole lot of scraps and I am on a mission...also could use up that very sunny sunflower print that I have been holding on for years...yep, not sure why I bought this, but it is sitting there looking very sunny.

Have leave coming up shortly and might just sew this together. This would make a nice little lap quilt for lovers of all things 'country'. I also have a country style panel (also not sure why I bought this...has individual blocks printed on it,  but is not that useable given the dimensions of the blocks on it...with any luck, I might be able to use this as a backing and have a reversible quilt...)

Anyway, that's it for me at the moment...totally immersed in trying to get rid of some stash and hell-bound on not buying any new fabric at the moment. We will see how long this lasts...

Linking up to Anything Goes Linky Party at Stitch by Stitch hosted this Monday by Heather from Bobbins and Bullets...this is great...new blog to explore. Heather is a longarm quilter and also has just put up her first paper piecing pattern on Craftsy.  For this month the pattern for an 8" block is free.

Until next time

  2. Your scrap quilt is looking great! I want to make one of these super scrappy quilts someday, but right now my scraps are what keeps my daughter happy when I'm in my sewing area. Thanks for linking up to Anything Goes Monday, and for mentioning me!
